Dr. Faraz Malik Awan joined UBDC Data Science team in June 2022. As a Data Scientist at UBDC, his responsibilities are to assure data quality and availability by applying Data Engineering approaches. He is also a part of Transport and Mobility research team, analysing mobile phone data to provide insights into mobility patterns and develop Machine Learning models for different use cases of mobile phone data.

Before joining UBDC, he was a postdoctoral researcher at University of Leeds, where he analysed socio demographic data to improve deliberative democracy.

Faraz holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Institut Polytechnique de Paris, France. During his Ph.D., he worked on Intelligent Transportation Systems. He got his master’s degree in Computer Engineering from Chung-Ang University, Seoul, South Korea, and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from COMSATS University Islamabad. He authored/co-authored five research papers and a book chapter on Digital Twins & Artificial Intelligence. His areas of interest include Intelligent Transportation Systems and application of Artificial Intelligence in Smart Cities.
