Bio
Alistair is a lecturer in Civil Engineering at the University of Glasgow and joined UBDC in 2020 as an engineering associate. He specialises in (1) design and planning of urban streets to enable active travel in urban environments and support development of healthy neighbourhood communities, (2) heat exchange with the natural environment to provide renewable sustainable heating and cooling to the built environment.
Alistair’s current research is focussed on: (1) better understanding inter-modal interaction arising from different side-street junction designs, (2) informing the design of public transit networks through data on walking, cycling, and wheeling speeds as well as the length of time travelled to public transport options in varying urban contexts, (3) how heating and cooling exchange can be best managed with rivers of varying flows and temperatures.
