Stephen joined the UBDC in April 2026 as a Research Software Engineer. His interests are in developing intuitive and data-focussed software platforms, with a particular focus in data visualisation. Stephen’s work involves collaborating with other UBDC researchers to understand their aims in the digital realm, and then developing the code and infrastructure to support these.

Stephen holds a PhD in Solar Physics from the University of Glasgow, and prior to joining the UBDC worked at a number of software companies
