As a Data Scientist, Luis is responsible for supporting UBDC and its stakeholders in a vast range of data analysis. He works with disparate sources of data to extract valuable information.

Luis came to UBDC in 2019 from Glasgow City Council where he analysed traffic data and used a deep learning approach to make predictions of traffic congestion. Previously, Luis was responsible for the GIS Services at the Directorate-General of Health Portugal. He prepared health data visualisations and dashboards and developed tools and scripts to automate the extraction, transformation and loading of raw data into databases.

Luis holds an MSc in Data Science from Robert Gordon University and an MSc in Geographic Engineering from Lisbon University.
