Steven joined Urban Big Data Centre in October 2019. As Centre Manager, Steven’s role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including the overall management of the Centre’s administrative and communications team. As part of the Senior Leadership Group, Steven also supports the effective delivery of the Centre’s strategic objectives as well as contributing to governance, high-level decision-making and stakeholder engagement. Steven is also responsible for monitoring the Centre’s budgets and resources.

Steven has over 12 years of experience working in research management and support roles in Higher Education. Before joining Urban Big Data Centre, he spent 8 years leading on the operational management of the Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (SICSA), a Scottish Funding Council research pool comprising 14 Scottish HE institutions.

Steven gained a BA Hons in Cultural & Media Studies at the University of the West of England and possesses further qualifications in Marketing & Communications (CIM) and Project Management (PRINCE2).

Steven is passionate about working to support Higher Education research and has a keen interest in how data can be used to help to create a healthier, happier, and more equal society.
